It's true. I dislike home dec very much. Seriously. Interior design is not my forte. But sewing a few pillow on our new sectional from Crate and Barrel (the lounge series - we just keep buying the same couches) revived my sewing mojo.
I sewed the pillows with invisible zippers (I have no idea why - the material is dry clean only and we have dogs). I am recovering the round cube ottomans/tables in the living room as well in these colors.
And for the rest of the project - in the linen color below - we plan to put up curtains to protect the couch from the sun - and give us a respite from below. We have a fantastic view to the ocean but hopefully the curtains won't interfere. My other concern with the curtains - our window is 112" W X 64" H - that's a lot of fabric.
This weekend I sewed a lined A-line skirt, and two Anthropologie style tank tops, not to mention straps for a strapless dress. So, more posts to come!
Good luck for those of you in Hurricane Isaac's path - my thoughts are with you!

I was wondering where your mojo was! The pillows and couches look great - good luck with the curtains. That IS an awful lot of fabric to feed into a machine - don't fall asleep!
we are looking to purchase the lounge sectional from C&B...how do you like it? would you recommend it?
thank you for your reply! It's been difficult making a decision and I have to say I have a love hate relationship with decorating! =) BTW...I think you can call crate and barrel to have the seats recovered...I was reading a lot of review and there was an issue with the fabric on the lounge sofas! Which was piling!!!! Contact them and see if they can redo the fabric on your sectional! Well...that is if you want to. =)
COREAM -- that is a great tip on the piling -- I wondered why it happened -- we are not rough on our couches and the piling started right away. I love the deepness but might pick a custom fabric next time.
it looks like when I spoke to the crate and barrel reps, ALL of them have been telling me that they recently fixed the piling problem with ALL of their fabrics (stock or custom). =)
It's been nice talking to you! I hope we love the lounge 2 piece sectional as much as you guys do. We are just worried about the cushions sagging or changing it's shape after use. I know it happens to some couches after a few years or so. We spend a lot of time lounging around so I hope this one will work out for us...=)
