Project Bags! A great idea from a friend.

Dear readers,

I was in a friend's sewing room studio in DC last winter.  She had the best idea.  She used XL bags to store all the things involving a project -- the fashion fabric (cut or uncut), the pattern, and all the notions and findings needed.
I thought what a fantastic idea.  So, I bagged up my next ten projects with GLAD XL bags (from Lowe's), minus any notions or findings (I am not THAT organized).   I think this will keep me on track a little better  -- I tend to daudle when I sew.    And, it clears out my stash for more fabric:)

Now, if I can just figure out where to store these bags. . .

Do you keep project boxes or bags, or have some other method for indicating your fabric is for a special project?  I'd love to hear.

XOXO,

Pam

I do bag my projects when I start bringing supplies together. I also store my patterns in gallon size ziplocs, along with the muslin. When I'm going to make the pattern next, I'll be able to pull out that muslin and see how it fits without having to make another. Are you storing projects under the bed yet? I recently found that. I've also heard of the shower in the guest bathroom. ;) Good luck. Lane

Lane! That is such a great idea -- especially the muslin! I'd love to hear more from you on projec organization (a future post?). Great idea about the guest shower and under the bed!! We live in a tiny little house on the coast in California -- so I am desparately looking for space. . . I like the idea of storing them "under" something!

I've got a couple of things in shopping bags, but they're sitting on my sewing table being ignored. If I paired everything up, I wouldn't have any room...

Yes, I seem to be having the same problem with room ....
